There are pros and cons to algorithms, and many of you may find that if you search something online, for example, you get related ads on Facebook or what have you. Algorithms, in a manner of speaking, focus on what you do and work to predict patterns, actions, and behaviors. Interestingly enough, I am mentioning algorithms with the intent to focus on something that I feel is very important — YOU!

If you aren’t able to see the caption under the image, it asks you, the reader, a question…what part of the image are you most drawn to? I am willing to bet that most people are drawn to the center, where you see a portion of the image that is not “sepia toned” like the rest. Why is that? To put it simply, it captures our focus, and I know that focus, and how to harness “the power of focus”, can be a key ingredient for making some delicious self-development soup! I aim to talk about focus on the show in the future and speak on various studies based around focus.
If you focus mostly on the negative, it becomes harder to see things when they are positive. Algorithms have a way of putting more of what you’ve been focusing on directly in front of you, and before you know it, you begin to both consciously and subconsciously focus on it more and more, so for that reason, it is important to do “self check-ins” periodically to regain balance. If you don’t, you run the risk of getting more of what you dislike, rather than more of what you love. Remember that you get more of whatever it is that you are focusing on (even if you take algorithms out of the equation), so if your aim is to make positive momentum and move upward, try not to focus too much on things that are detrimental!
